Regular changes to the script, production, cast and set make each year's performance a unique one.The activities of the Canadian Badlands Passion Play Society are only possible through the involvement of thousands of people each year, most of whom are volunteers. People are needed to help with performing: directing, acting, singing and playing instruments. Others are needed to prepare for performances by helping with sets, props and costumes. Still others are needed on performance days to host, usher, assist with parking, run concessions and dozens of other jobs.Alberta’s Badlands have been well recognized in the 20th century as a massive repository of fossils and bones from the period 65 million years ago when dinosaurs were Earth’s most high profile life form. The Badlands are also one of the fastest eroding surfaces on the planet, due to wind, winter ice and moisture. This means that the scenery is guaranteed dramatic, changeable from year to year, and bound to reveal even more dinosaur and other fossil remains each time a rare intense rainfall moves through what is essentially a desert landscape.
