no place like it I have lived for varying stretches of time in many different parts of the world. Nowhere was it ever quite like most of the parts of Canada I've been in. Well, Tasmania was a bit like Vancouver Island. But you never could set your watch in any part of Canada by the time the rain starts and stops each day, as in Java, or get the same feeling in the Nullarbor of Australia as in Alberta. Being Canadian, I crossed New Zealand in a few hours, a horrifying prospect for a native 'kiwi'! I like being able to drive for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours..Start in the Carolinian forest of southern Ontario and end up in the muskeg north of Cochrane..or continue right on through to Winnipeg only grabbing a few hours at a pullover (not something you wear, but something you park at to sleep!)Or try driving from Peace River diagonally across Saskatchewan to southern Manitoba, keeping one eye out for tumbleweed and the other on the stormcloud 150 miles away! Were you ever driving west, keeping an eye out for the mountains, and then you look way up, and there are the peaks above you in the mist, and you're still in the rolling land of Alberta? Oh, gosh, I am running out of room and I still haven't touched on the other two coasts yet!
